The history of the Pentagonal Tower
In the 15th century this tower was the main entrance to the Inner Ward; it also served for defence of the Castle against attacks from the south. The path to this entrance led across two drawbridges above the moat. The two openings in the wall have been preserved; the bigger one for horses and carriages and the smaller one for people. Various slits and loops can be seen at the Tower, since the fort was adapted to modern weapons. The Pentagonal Tower holds exhibitions, smaller concerts and theatrical performances. The ground floor has an area of 50m², and together with two galleries it can accommodate up to 100 people.
