7th Castle Days
The present form of the Ljubljana Castle would certainly be very different if, on 16 May 1905, the then mayor Ivan Hribar had not purchased the castle from the state authorities, transferring its ownership to the city of Ljubljana. The visionary Hribar had big plans for the castle, which, a century after its purchase, are being realised, as the castle has become an important cultural centre of the Slovenian capital. Numerous cultural events unfold behind the castle walls: exhibitions, concerts, dances, theatre performances, thematic lectures, etc. The space in which these events are presented to the audience is also important: the venues at the Ljubljana Castle are truly unique! Thus, the vision of the celebrated Mayor Hribar is realised with every cultural event that comes to life behind the mighty walls.
On the anniversary of the purchase, the traditional Castle Days, held for the seventh consecutive year, will take place at the Ljubljana Castle from 19 to 21 May 2017. Within the framework of the Castle Days, we have prepared a wide range of free events suitable for the whole family.
