Although Big Band KK has existed since the 1980s (and was formerly known as Big Band Krško), it was practically and formally established in 1994, when Aleš Suša took over as the band’s conductor and leader. By playing various types of music, from swing and Latin to fusion and jazz rock, the band has established itself as one of the best non-professional big bands in Slovenia, and many successful instrumentalists have emerged from under his wing.

In 2013, Big Band KK released its first album Depeched, featuring covers of seven songs by Depeche Mode. The album received an unexpectedly positive response from critics and listeners, which led to an invitation for the band to play at Jazz Montreux, a rarity for Slovenian musicians.
