Fairy Tale for Adults: About the Little Shepherd and the Fat Lice

18. May from 18:00, Castle Theatre, Ljubljana Castle

Fairy tales are not just stories from a bygone era, as their message goes beyond specific timeframes. Fairy tales are eternal ... Today’s young generations read the same fairy tales as we did, and with just the same enthusiasm. Have you ever wondered what fairy tales possess that is so magical that they defy being frozen in time?

We will discover the answer to this question together with Luka Hrovat and Mirjam Slanovec, two wholehearted people with a knack for reviving the magic of fairy tales with their storytelling, while at the same time lifting the veil from the mysterious messages that fairy tales carry within themselves. You can decide for yourself whether there is only wisdom in fairy tales, or whether there is something more.

About the Little Shepherd and the Fat Lice, Slovenian folk fairy tale

A Slovenian folk fairy tale about a count who breeds a fat louse and manages to make bacon from it. He is so convinced that no one will guess what the bacon is made from that he promises his daughter and kingdom to anyone who establishes the truth. But the count miscalculates, as a poor little shepherd knows the right answer. Will the count give him what he promised, or will he do everything he can to get around it?

The fairy tale for adults lasts 60 minutes.

The number of places is limited. Free tickets will be available at Ljubljana Castle sales points and the lower funicular station on Krek Square (Krekov trg) from 13 May 2019 until all of the places are taken. Each individual can take up to four free tickets.

We recommend using the funicular railway to attend the fairytale reading. For the duration of the Castle Days, there will be a uniform discounted price for a return ticket for the funicular.
