Jure Pukl is a recipient of the 2015 Prešeren Fund Prize and is one of the most creative saxophonists of the younger generation of Slovenian jazz musicians. He studied in Vienna, The Hague and at the Berklee College of Music (with masters such as Joe Lovano and George Garzone), and completed his master’s degree at the Graz Music Academy. During his career, he has appeared with stars such as Dave Liebman, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, George Lewis, Maceo Parker, Vijay Iyer Jeff Tain Watts and many others. Jure Pukl devotes himself to modern interpretations of jazz. To date, he has released eight original CDs, which have received excellent reviews in specialist magazines such as Downbeat, Jazzwise and Jazzpodium, as well as on the All about Jazz portal and in the daily newspapers The New York Times and The Guardian, where he was labelled as “the rising star of the generation that is creating the music of the new century”. He regularly performs all over the world.

 

The Ljubljana Castle Jazz Club is open from 8.00 pm to 12:30 am. Live music commences at 9.00 pm.
