This year, the Ljubljana Castle is organising a three-day Dragon Festival, which will open after sunset on Friday 7 September, when the group The Stroy will perform in the Castle Courtyard.

The festival will continue on Saturday with two events, and on Sunday afternoon with a concert by Brencl banda.
Immerse yourself in a world where imagination becomes reality and reality becomes the fantastic kingdom of the dragon! Don’t miss it – the Castle Hill will burn like never before!

At the end of May 2017, the collective The Stroy celebrated the 20th anniversary of its operation, which was marked by a retrospective exhibition at the Coal Mining Museum in Velenje and the release of the current single Grandioso.

The Stroy (“stroj” is Slovenian for machine, and the name is a play on the English word “destroy”) was formed in 1997 as an eight-member percussion group. Their musical instruments are constructed from discarded plastic and metal drums, machine parts and various work tools. In 2009, with a renewed line-up and fresh instruments, they presented the project Kymatikon, which was their first step to a new stage of creativity, introducing radical changes in their sonic image. The sound of the ensemble, which is still based on distinctive and complex rhythmic structures and the characteristic sound of percussion and sound machines of their own production, began to be upgraded with electronically manipulated environmental recordings, early electronic instruments, various electrical devices and tools, and a female voice. With Kymatikon, the members of The Stroy sketched out a new creative horizon. Live performances were upgraded with video projections of direct sound effects in liquids, flames and dust, creating indescribable dynamic scenography.
