On midsummer nights, film stars come to life in the courtyard of Ljubljana Castle. A programme of this season’s best films has once again been put together by Kinodvor, in collaboration with the City of Ljubljana and Ljubljana Castle. This year, five films will have their Slovene Premiere or Avant Premiere at the open-air cinema in the Castle courtyard.
Films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. English spoken films are screened with Slovene subtitles only.
Dunkirk

1940, World War II. Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German army. 400,000 men are stranded on the dunes of Dunkirk. But when they couldn’t get home, home came to them. During the largest evacuation in military history, codenamed Operation Dynamo, 700 civilian boats came to their heroic rescue. From acclaimed director Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar) comes one of the most anticipated films of the year. (English spoken)

Cancellations: In case of rain, the screening is cancelled. You can either exchange your ticket for the cancelled screening for a ticket to another screening at Ljubljana Castle or you can request a refund at the place of purchase (until August 7, 2017). In case you have purchased tickets online, you can request a refund at the Ljubljana Castle. The cancelled film will be screened the following evening at Kinodvor at 21:30. In cases where avant premieres are cancelled, there will be two additional screenings the following evening, at 19:00 and 21:30, at Kinodvor. Tickets for those screenings can be purchased or obtained in exchange for tickets to the cancelled screening at the Kinodvor box office (please note: there are 1000 seats in the Castle courtyard and only 197 seats at Kinodvor). Cancellations will be announced at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.kinodvor.org by 20:00 on the day of the scheduled screening.
