The mission of the band Chiriké is to spread Latin American music in search of intersections between its traditional and modern sonic image. Both the band’s own arrangements and the sound of the band itself give old styles a new image, enriched by the influences of modern music, while retaining the characteristic rhythmic energy that enraptures the listener. Their main sources of inspiration are Afro-Peruvian music, Llanero music from Venezuela, Argentine tango, cumbia from Colombia, and a range of Cuban styles. Working together, the musicians of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds transcend the boundaries between ethno, classical and jazz music. The band has already appeared at a number of festivals at home and abroad.
