In recent years, the festival of contemporary original and ethno music Godibodi has become a synonym for quality Slovenian original and ethno music, and for a comprehensive concert experience. This year’s festival will take place in the first week of June at a new location, the Ljubljana Castle, where a series of fresh musical projects will be presented. On the second day of the festival, new projects will be presented by the bands Orkestrada, Počeni škafi and Yanu.
Orkestrada is a band made up of five independent musicians. It was formed in 2010 on the initiative of poet and versatile artist Rada Kikelj Drašler, who, after many years of interpreting her poems herself, joined forces with musicians who know how to set texts to music, and who understand the concept of performed poetry. The title of their new album is Utrip. With the eponymous song, Orkestrada won the 2013 Slovenian Chanson Festival. Utrip is a confessional poem that talks about an intimate experience of the world and brings a message of life and death. The other songs on the album are: Blažena, Zvonec, Neurje, Tajkuni, Gumb, Košček sanj, Mala zvezda and Proslava. Among these songs, particular mention should be made of the sociocritical song Tajkuni, in which the author discusses the rebellion of the people, which is incomprehensible to the political world, as well as the gap between culture and capitalism, or the gap between those who are wealthy at the expense of others and those who, with their work, are fighting for their everyday bread. All of the texts, which are the original work of the singer, have been made available in the poetry collection entitled Košček sanj, which was published in 2015 by the O Humanities and Art Society. Orkestrada is now finally releasing its second album. Rada’s stage performance is still closest to the expression psychedelic chanson. This is especially evident in the song Košček sanj, which speaks of a personal search for happiness, and of the illusions we encounter in our daily lives.

Boštjan Franetič – electric guitar
Rok Zalokar – keyboards

Počeni škafi is a street swing band from Ljubljana. The musicians draw their inspiration from traditional jazz, played in an “unmuseum-like”, lively and original way. Some songs have been translated into Slovenian, and the original songs also flirt with chanson. The band is renowned for its long concerts, sometimes lasting more than three hours. They like to play in the streets as well as in concert and dance halls. Počeni škafi is a mixture of opposing elements: old and modern, intimate and degenerate, elegant and explosive, poetic and exciting. Above all, they are an entity with a strong scent of love.
The band’s long-playing debut is entitled Stroj za sušenje solz. It contains nine original songs that are moving and witty, and do not avert their eyes from the fact that love and happiness are very different things. The exceptional vocals of Marjeta Prudič will convey you to a shocking world of feelings and desire, dance, tears and joy, a world in which you will want to stay for a long time and from which you will definitely not emerge untouched.

Yanu (Jan Tomšič) is a multi-instrumentalist and a real master of improvisation. With his group Caminoigra, he has recorded the albums Ishuan, A New Child and Yanu, leaving an indelible mark on the Slovenian music scene. He is one of the first artists to create the musical style of World Music in Slovenia.
He returns to the Slovenian stage with the new band Yanu, which will serve up lush melodies and subtle rhythms, satisfying both ethno music lovers and demanding jazz listeners.
