9th Castle Days

Knight School - SOLD OUT

18. May from 14:30, Ljubljana Castle

Creative Workshop and Sword Wielding

Knights were brave medieval warriors who lived a very adventurous and exciting life. They fiercely defended the territory of their master against enemies, protected the weak and helpless, and tirelessly pursued criminals. But not everyone could become a knight. Only the select few were able to attend a knight school, at which their courage and benevolence were tested, and only those who successfully completed all of the challenges set finally earned the title of knight.

On our journey through the castle, we will learn a lot of interesting things about the life of knights, such as: Who were the chosen ones who could become knights? How did the knight school operate? Who was a page, and who was a squire? How did the solemn bestowing of a knighthood take place, and what was the knightly code that all knights had to respect? At the creative workshop, we will then create the most recognisable symbols of a brave medieval warrior – a sword and a shield – and try our hand at wielding a sword ourselves at the knight school.

The creative workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 10 years, and lasts 90 minutes.

Gathering Point: The bridge in front of the main entrance.

The number of places is limited. Free tickets will be available at Ljubljana Castle sales points and the lower funicular station on Krek Square (Krekov trg) from 13 May 2019 until all of the places are taken. Each individual can take up to four free tickets.

We recommend using the funicular railway to attend the creative workshop. For the duration of the Castle Days, there will be a uniform discounted price for a return ticket for the funicular.
