Jazz vocalist and music pedagogue Ana Bezjak has shifted between various musical traditions throughout her career, but is known to the broader audience primarily from the band Papir and for her collaboration with the tango ensembles Piazzolleky and Tango Compas. As well as projects with her own jazz quartet and other small ensembles, she regularly appears as a guest with the RTV Slovenia Big Band and many other large ensembles. She also featured as a soloist on Robert Jukič’s album Women. She teaches jazz singing at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet and leads vocal jazz workshops in both Slovenia and Austria.
Travelin’ Soul is a new original project by Ana Bezjak, which combines the various genres that have accompanied her throughout her musical career while exploring her own musical expression. The stories about love and life, whose musical settings draw inspiration from both traditional vocal jazz as well as soul and R&B, were created in collaboration with bassist Tade Kampl and other musicians.
