An exhibition of three generations of the artistic family Demšar from Ljubljana

Clay, Wood and Glass

from 16. Jun to 17. Sep 2017, from 9:00 to 21:00, Pentagonal Tower, Ljubljana Castle

The idea of combining music and fine art has always been a way of considering art in the family Demšar. On one hand there is the love of creating forms and sounds and on the other the moulding of matter and the language of sculpture - two completely different ways of expression with a pinch of common properties.  The exhibition “Clay, Wood and Glass” will demonstrate the synthesis of skills in wood processing (Blaž, 1903 – 1981, Vilim, 1937 – 2017, Blaž, 1980 ) and in sculpturing clay and glass in a contemporary manner (Tone, 1946 – 1997, Polona, 1979).  Some of the exhibits and a floating composition near the glass wall will be created especially for this venue, which also carries its own load of history.

The accompanying music at the exhibition will transform the lightness of the instrument in such a way that the spectator will experience it as one of the sculptures, and maybe also vice a versa.

This current memorial exhibition is also a living proof that the family’s creative genes are being passed on for almost a hundred years.
