Exhibition of Easter Eggs

The egg is a symbol of new life and fertility, and is one of the key components of Easter meals.

In Slovenia, we have developed a rich heritage of decorating and dyeing eggs. Most of the regions of Slovenia maintain specific regional characteristics with different motifs and decorations (e.g., “pisanica” from Bela Krajina, “remenica” from Prekmurje, and “pirhi” from Brkini).

Since there is a need to nurture cultural heritage and teach new generations about it, the newspaper publisher Delo will, within the framework of the 21^st Best Easter Egg Contest, organise an exhibition of Easter eggs at the Ljubljana Castle. All of the exhibited Easter eggs will be the work of readers of the newspaper Slovenske novice.
