Milan Stanisavljević Quintet

31. Mar from 20:00, Rock Hall, Ljubljana Castle

This international band is led by jazz pianist Milan Stanisavljević, who will be in the company of excellent wind players, trumpeter Tomaž Gajšt and saxophonist Luka Ignjatović. The rhythm section is completed by the young Serbian drummer Pedja Milutinović (Vasil Hadžimanov Band; Schime Trio; David Binney Avenia), who is one of the most promising representatives of jazz drummers in Europe.

They will mainly present new original material, which will be on the Milan's upcoming fourth original album. The quintet previously released the album Eastern Star (Klopotec, 2020), with which they performed at the 35th Belgrade Jazz Festival and received excellent reviews from domestic and international audiences. Milan's music is characterized by a modern rhythmic-melodic approach, the creation of various colorful atmospheres, and the aesthetics of minimalism. The critics said about the album:
"Orderly, but with a touch of freedom. Realistic and incredibly dreamy at the same time. Comprehensive, yet constantly changing. " - Nina Novak, writer and reviewer
"The Eastern Star album represents the natural evolution of Stanisavljević's artistic essence, following the trio's path through the mainstream of modern jazz, but with new wind instrument colors that give the artist space to express his arranging skills, and to cross over his playing skills with those of other soloists in the band. "- Vojislav Pantić, art director of the Belgrade Jazz Festival
