Nocturnal Animals

On midsummer nights, film stars come to life in the courtyard of Ljubljana Castle. A programme of this season’s best films has once again been put together by Kinodvor, in collaboration with the City of Ljubljana and Ljubljana Castle. This year, five films will have their Slovene Premiere or Avant Premiere at the open-air cinema in the Castle courtyard.

Films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. English spoken films are screened with Slovene subtitles only.

From writer/director Tom Ford comes a haunting romantic thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension that explores the thin lines between love and cruelty, revenge and redemption. Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves in Nocturnal Animals. Academy Award nominee for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Michael Shannon). Winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). (English spoken)

Getting there: We recommend reaching Ljubljana Castle on foot or by funicular railway. Funicular Railway: The price of return-trip tickets for Film Under the Stars audience is 3 EUR.Tickets to screenings are also available at the Lower Funicular Station. Free parking! During Film Under the Stars, free parking is available at Vodnik Square (Market place) from 19:30 to 02:00

Cancellations: In case of rain, the screening is cancelled. You can either exchange your ticket for the cancelled screening for a ticket to another screening at Ljubljana Castle or you can request a refund at the place of purchase (until August 7, 2017). In case you have purchased tickets online, you can request a refund at the Ljubljana Castle. The cancelled film will be screened the following evening at Kinodvor at 21:30. In cases where avant premieres are cancelled, there will be two additional screenings the following evening, at 19:00 and 21:30, at Kinodvor. Tickets for those screenings can be purchased or obtained in exchange for tickets to the cancelled screening at the Kinodvor box office (please note: there are 1000 seats in the Castle courtyard and only 197 seats at Kinodvor). Cancellations will be announced at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.kinodvor.org by 20:00 on the day of the scheduled screening.
