Marko Hatlak & Kapobanda

The musical autumn at the Ljubljana Castle brings a concert cycle by Marko Hatlak, who, along with his guests, will take us through a diverse range of musical creativity over four evenings. From Kapobanda to a solo concert, and from the Marko Hatlak Band to FUNtango with special guest Iztok Mlakar. With a humorous note, Marko Hatlak tells stories about the songs that are heard, some of which he also spices up with singing. He draws everyone present into musical collaboration, so that for some tunes the whole venue beats in live rhythms. With an original interpretation of each and every song, regardless of style, Marko Hatlak evokes an emotionally deep and lively experience in the audience.

The ethno ensemble Kapobanda consists of accordionist and vocalist Marko Hatlak, clarinettist Goran Bojčevski, guitarist Miha Meglič and contrabassist Rok Hozjan. These four musicians, who gained their experience mainly in Terrafolk but are also established soloists, thrill audiences with with the interweaving of different styles. As well as presenting compositions from the entire Balkans, they draw from classical compositions, tango and klezmer music, while their repertoire also includes folk songs from the northern countries. On first glance, the common denominator of the diverse styles, moods and energy of the compositions is their superb interpretation by the musicians of the band, who are schooled in classical and jazz music.
