Marko Hatlak & FUNtango; with special guest: Iztok Mlakar - SOLD OUT

The musical autumn at the Ljubljana Castle brings a concert cycle by Marko Hatlak, who, along with his guests, will take us through a diverse range of musical creativity over four evenings. From Kapobanda to a solo concert, and from the Marko Hatlak Band to FUNtango with special guest Iztok Mlakar. With a humorous note, Marko Hatlak tells stories about the songs that are heard, some of which he also spices up with singing. He draws everyone present into musical collaboration, so that for some tunes the whole venue beats in live rhythms. With an original interpretation of each and every song, regardless of style, Marko Hatlak evokes an emotionally deep and lively experience in the audience.

Renowned accordionist Marko Hatlak formed the group FUNtango in 2004, following the example of Astor Piazzolla. Pioneers of performing tango music in the Slovenian scene, the group has built a reputation with their explosive and sentimental interpretations. Their repertoire of new tango is extended to unique arrangements of works by the great classical masters (e.g., Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, musette by the French master Richard Gallian, Hatlak’s original compositions, etc.). Vocalist and accordionist Marko Hatlak is joined in the group by violinist Dejan Gregorič, pianist Jan Sever, guitarist Andrej Pekarovič and contrabassist Jošt Lampret. The special guest of the tango evening will be the popular songwriter, actor and singer Iztok Mlakar, who performed for the first time with Marko Hatlak last year, presenting selected songs from his repertoire to a thrilled domestic audience.
