Stretch 3789

from 15. Oct 2026 to 31. Jan 2027, from 9:00 to 18:00, “S” Gallery, Ljubljana Castle

The exhibition Stretch 3789 presents the work of sculptors Tejka Pezdirc and Rok Bogataj, as well as curator Jani Pirnat. The point of departure is the challenging architecture of the “S” Gallery, a narrow space that is 37.89 metres in length, situated between natural rock and industrial concrete. The artists fill this space with the inner tubes of car or tractor tires (in Slovenian, an inner tube is informally referred to as duša, which means soul). Cut into strips and knotted together, the inner tubes are stretched across the entire length of the space. This inexpensive, recycled material thus becomes the bearer of a spatial tension akin to the taut yarn in the works of Fred Sandback or the rubber works of Michael Sailstorfer and Chakaia Booker. At the same time, the material retains a familiar, almost banal familiarity.

Curator: Jani Pirnat

This exhibition was organised in collaboration with the Ljubljana Fine Artists Society.
