Brief Funicular Shut Down for Regular Five-Year Inspection
Brief Funicular Shut Down for Regular Five-Year Inspection
From 2 March to approximately 7 March, regulatory maintenance will be undertaken on the funicular railway as part of its regular five-year inspection. During this time, the funicular will not be operating and alternative bus transport will be provided.
In December 2026, the funicular railway to the Ljubljana Castle will celebrate 20 years of operation. Therefore, from 2 March to approximately 7 March, we will undertake a regulatory five-year inspection, which will include the following work: inspection of the operational and safety brakes, inspection of the hydraulic equipment, replacement of the tow cable, etc. During this time, the funicular will not be in operation, but an alternative bus service will run on the route Krek Square (Krekov trg)–Ljubljana Castle–Krek Square. The bus will depart every half hour. Tickets for the alternative bus service can be purchased at the ticket office of the lower funicular station and in the entrance pavilion at the Ljubljana Castle.
