One-Day Closure of the Ljubljana Castle Due to a Major City Event

On Friday 8 May 2026, a major event will take place in the Castle Courtyard before the city holiday, so the Ljubljana Castle will be closed to visitors on this day.

On Friday 8 May 2026, a major protocol event organised by the City of Ljubljana will take place at the Ljubljana Castle, so the castle will be closed to visitors, including all of the castle content. The funicular railway will not be operating on this day.
Among the castle’s catering premises, the terrace of the Castle Wine Shop and Bar will be open (access to the terrace is from the exterior of the castle) as well as Strelec Restaurant. On this day, the access road to the castle, Cesta slovenskih kmečkih uporov, will be closed to traffic until 6.00 pm.
