Since its first edition in 2008, the festival of contemporary original and ethno music Godibodi has been synonymous with quality music and a complete concert experience, continuously opening the space to fresh and not yet established Slovenian music. Under the baton of the artistic director of the festival, versatile musician Janez Dovč, and produced by the Ljubljana Castle, this unique music project has connected many top Slovenian musicians in recent years.

This year’s fifteenth edition of the festival will take place in the first days of June with concerts by the following groups: Popevke in Pravljice with Klara Veteršek and Urška Supej, AKA Neomi, Zajtrk, Noreia with Jani Kovačič, Toj’To and Jazoo.

Two groups will perform on the second day of the festival: Zajtrk, Noreia & Jani Kovačič & Laura Krajnc

Zajtrk is made up of Laura Krajnc, tamer of violin, vocals and tambourine, and Sven Horvat, tamer of guitar, who sometimes sings a bit as well. They are both fans of fairy tales, stories, funny anecdotes, theatre and other wicked whims, so all of this is intertwined with their musical creativity. Since they let the music take them wherever it wants, they are very open in terms of genre, as they use genre to support and illustrate the emotions and stories in the songs. Thus, their compositions intertwine folk and ethno music with punk chanson, cabaret, jazz, blues, pop and rock, creating a robust, alternative singer-songwriter expression. In short, Zajtrk is an ethno-chanson duo. They strive primarily for the preservation of the Slovenian language in the lyrics and the introduction of folk elements into the music, while retaining social criticism, playfulness, creative autonomy and good humour. Above all, their music reflects an interest in the individual and his or her comic, rebellious, confused, tragic, unhappy and happy life. On this occasion, they will be joined on stage by Ines Ljubej on drums and Neža Pavlovič on double bass.

Noreia is a five-piece ensemble of experienced musicians who play traditional Irish, Scottish and Breton melodies, but not always in a completely traditional way. Recently, the band has been actively combining the “Celtic” tradition with its own heritage, Slovenian folk music, resulting in a unique and distinctive sound.
The present concert will accompany the official release of the album Kilt Roberta Burnsa (Robert Burns’ Kilt), which was recorded “live” at one of the band’s concerts in 2021. Kilt Roberta Burnsa is a bittersweet album of Scottish folk and national songs written by the most famous Scottish poet Robert Burns (1759–1796) and translated into Slovenian by Janez Menart and Jani Kovačič. These are songs that have been adopted by the Scots and still form the core of their repertoire, both on concert stages and in pubs. In the first part of the concert, Noreia, Jani Kovačič and Laura Krajnc will sing and play some typical Scottish songs with lyrics by Burns, as well as some interesting Scottish tunes and instrumental compositions, while the second part will feature Burns’ famous cantata Love and Liberty.
Jani Kovačič has been on the scene for so long that he has become a scene himself. On this occasion, in the company of Noreia and Laura, he will recall his Celtic roots and explain the traditional Scottish dish haggis. Laura Betka Krajnc (Duo Zajtrk) touches upon almost all branches of the arts: literature, visual arts, performing arts and theatre, but discovers her essence in music. The voice is her main means of expression, but she also plays the violin. With Noreia and Jani Kovačič, she will reveal stories and mischievous tales wrapped in Celtic sound.
