Medieval camp and open day
The Sunday events of the 15th Castle Days will be enriched by medieval bustle in the Castle Park and the Castle Courtyard. We will conjure up a genuine medieval atmosphere with knightly duels, tournaments and performances, and there will also be a presentation of the skills of craftsmen from that time.
In addition to knightly tournaments and festivities, another very popular medieval pastime was falconry, which is why the falcon is regarded as a fearless, noble and loyal bird in the chivalric tradition. These extraordinary, majestic birds of prey will once again rule the skies above the castle walls, offering an unforgettable experience that will not leave anyone unmoved.
Visitors will have an opportunity to try their hand at medieval games and skills, such as archery, sword fighting, axe throwing and much more. Numerous medieval acting and juggling groups will ensure a medieval atmosphere with a healthy dose of humour.
Dressed in medieval costumes, the Ljubljana Castle’s activity leaders will be a real feast for the eyes. The medieval events will be further spiced up by the castle’s mascot, Friderik the rat, as well as a palm reader and a castle calligrapher.
On this day, the castle gates will be wide open and visitors will be welcome to explore the Ljubljana Castle free of charge.
