October 1958. The Cold War is at its peak. A group of young Yugoslav scientists are irradiated with a lethal dose of uranium. They are sent to Paris for medical treatment by Professor Mathé at the Curie Institute. Mathé proposes the first-ever human bone marrow transplant. Is this an experiment with living beings or does he truly want to help them? After its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival, Variety praised the film with the Award for Best Film in the prestigious Piazza Grande selection, adding: »an increasingly taut narrative that plays at times like a ticking-clock thriller.«

Films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. English-language films are screened with Slovenian subtitles only.

Ticket price: €6; Avant Premieres and Premiere: €7. No discounts. No reservations.
A disabled person in a wheelchair and their companion are entitled to a free ticket. Tickets can be picked up on the day of the screening. More at www.ljubljanskigrad.si.

CANCELLATIONS
In the event of rain or a bad weather forecast, screenings will be cancelled. In that case, the films will be screened the following evening at 21:00 at Kinodvor. In the case of Avant Premieres and Premieres, two additional screenings will take place the following night at Kinodvor.
Tickets to the cancelled screening can be exchanged for:
- tickets to the film’s additional screening: available at the Kinodvor box office until the seating capacities are filled (the number of seats at Kinodvor is considerably lower than in the castle courtyard);
- tickets to any other Film Under the Stars screening (except for the Avant Premieres and Premieres): available at the box offices at the Ljubljana Castle Entrance Pavilion and the Lower Funicular Station (tickets to a cancelled Avant Premiere or Premiere can only be exchanged for tickets to another Avant Premiere or Premiere);
- cash refund: to be collected from the place of purchase by 26 August 2024. After this date, tickets cannot be refunded.
Cancellations will be announced at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.kinodvor.org by 19:00 on the day of the scheduled screening.
GETTING THERE
We invite visitors to reach the green oasis of Ljubljana Castle Hill by opting for sustainable transportation. We recommend that you use the funicular (all spectators attending Film Under the Stars can purchase tickets at a reduced price of €4.50). Alternatively, you can hop on the Urban e-train, or reach the venue on foot or by bike.
NOT TO BE MISSED AT LJUBLJANA CASTLE
The exhibition of photographs Slovenia: A Symphony of Views by Jaka Ivančič, an exhibition of the graphic novel John Milton’s Paradise Lost by Pablo Auladell, and the spatial installation The Magic of Millinery by Ana Lazovski. Open until 20:00.
