In the Embrace of Impressionism
The contemporary presentation of the works of four Slovenian impressionists with three-dimensional projections and selected ambient sound in the Casemate, the castle’s largest hall, takes you on a unique sensory journey through the moments that inspired these painters more than a century ago.
It is an experience that will certainly inspire you too.
What can you expect?
At the turn of the twentieth century, the Slovenian painters Rihard Jakopič, Ivan Grohar, Matija Jama and Matej Sternen created extraordinary works with dreamy depictions of landscapes and figures, raising painting in Slovenia to the highest level.
With spatial projections and carefully chosen ambient sound, the selected works of four Slovenian Impressionists, placed in the mystical space of the castle’s recently renovated Casemate, take on a completely new dimension. In a completely immersive experience, a magnificent dance of light and colour gently reveals the images of The Sower, The Red Parasol, The Bathers, Circle Dance and other famous works of the Slovenian Impressionists, which are deeply rooted in Slovenian identity.
The unforgettable experience of the fifteen-minute projection will undoubtedly thrill admirers of the most celebrated period of Slovenian painting, as well as those seeking new experiences in the intertwining of contemporary technologies.
The projection contains scenes with flashing light effects that may affect viewers who are at risk of experiencing epileptic seizures due to light sensitivity or who suffer from other forms of such sensitivity.
Digital reproductions of the artworks for the spatial projection were contributed by: The National Gallery, Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, The Modern Gallery.
